“Before I started working at Saco Biddeford Savings Bank, I was a 22-year-old college student who didn’t know what the future held and I had no idea what I wanted to do career-wise. My now-wife had just graduated from college and was beginning her new career. After we moved in together, I went from being a full-time student who worked part-time to being a part-time student who worked a full-time job with benefits. I had worked in customer service my entire work life up to that point, so I felt that working at Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution would be a good fit for me.
In the beginning, I worked as a Customer Relationship Associate at our Old Orchard Beach location. I learned a lot about what makes a branch run and what that branch specifically could handle. It was a great experience that allowed me to meet some really great people and coworkers.
In March of 2018, I was approached with an opportunity to help Digital Banking on a temporary assignment. I found that I really liked the work. When they posted a full time position as a Digital Banking Specialist, I decided to inquire. The rest is history. I was promoted to my current role of Senior Digital Banking Specialist in January of 2021.
One of the things I enjoy most about my job is that no day is the same and that I’m constantly learning. I have found myself relying on the knowledge I have gained in Digital to solve problems every day.
Another great perk of my job is the awesome people that I get to work with. I want to give special thanks to our Operations team, because they work really hard and are big contributors to our success as a bank.
The relationships I have built and the people I spend 40+ hours a week with have made a big impact on my life. They’ve given me institutional knowledge, industry knowledge, and have even taught me the occasional life lessons here and there. I will carry all of their knowledge with me for the rest of my life.
When I’m not at work, I spend a lot of my free time with my wife and our dog, going on hikes and enjoying the outdoors together. I started golfing regularly toward the end of the summer after finishing school and earning a degree. My game has a long way to go, but I actually enjoy going out there and losing half a dozen balls a round.
You can usually find me working on my honey-do list and puttering around my house. I also spend a lot of time with my family. I have three brothers and we all have families of our own, so finding time to hangout with each other is more difficult, but also more important.”
Please join us in congratulating Andrew on his five year work anniversary!
