“The most important property of humankind is the capacity to form and maintain relationships.”
— Dr. Bruce Perry
Buying your first home is as exciting as it is anxiety riddled. Seeking to return home to Maine, Nolan and his wife Melissa started their home buying journey, which was filled with ups and downs.
Living in a city for 8 years provided Nolan and Melissa with many things, but it was unable to provide them the personal space they craved - one of the most important things to be considered as they looked at properties. They grew up believing business was done with handshakes, conversations and understanding. The Southern Maine housing market has been quite competitive so the pair were looking at the process as a transaction, as opposed to the personal experience they were hopeful for.
The intricacies of their first home brought many obstacles and after many disappointments, they decided to flip the script on their own story and seek out a lender who would provide them with the personal experience they craved. They were recommended to SBSI by Wendy Swan at Phenix Title and began working with SBSI Loan Officer Wayne Johnson.
“The process really transformed for us,” said Nolan, “when we started our relationship with SBSI. Wayne was our partner in the process and that’s how we felt the entire time. His communication was clear, preemptive and supportive. The ethos and relationship has persisted - we’ve seen the worst case scenarios and we worked through it all together. SBSI has been invested in our emotions and character; that’s the difference and personal touch they provide.”
“We sincerely appreciate everything the Bank has done to support our first house purchase, and now our first refinance. SBSI absolutely rocks and couldn’t be better!”
