Pat Leland is celebrating 5 Years at SBSI!
“I started at the bank part-time when I was in college studying Biology and Life Sciences. When I realized that wasn’t the path for me, I changed my focus to Economics. I wanted to find a job that would give me some real life experience in the field I was studying. When I thought about applying economics to a career, a bank seemed like the perfect fit. I could see real time movement of wealth and how people interact with the value of things.
Settling into SBSI after college was natural. I was a seasonal teller before becoming a full time employee after college graduation. I transitioned from a teller to a deposit support position, where I gained a great understanding of banking regulations and principals. I found my niche in 2020 as a Financial Analyst in the Accounting Department; what better job for someone who studied Economics, right?
The sense of belonging at SBSI is unmatched. From my very first day, I felt like I belonged, like I was part of the team. This team was special though because team members didn’t let each other fail. I have always been afforded opportunities to learn, help and advance professionally and personally. I’ve had my fair share of ‘oops’ moments, but not once did I feel like I was alone. Someone was always there to teach me how to be better next time and coach me through. It’s gratifying to be in this environment.
In my free time, I enjoy my longest life hobby: fishing. I love being out on the water and so far, I’ve caught 8 different species of fish this year. I bought my first house with my wonderful fiancé, an 1850’s farmhouse, which we’ve enjoyed fixing up to make our home. If I'm not fishing or tinkering at home, you can probably find me sampling local craft beers with my friends. Good food, drinks and friends are never too far away.”
Please join us in congratulating Pat on this milestone!
