“Find something that lights your soul on fire and go for it.”
Of course, you need stability, but you should always have that one thing you’re working on so that if your life does take a turn, you can find true happiness and inspire those around you.
I was in the corporate world for 30 years, but always pursued my passion for dance and fitness. I have been dancing since I was seven years old and received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Emerson College. My intention was to open a dance studio of my own, but with a new family, the timing was just not right.
However, I never gave up with Dance and Fitness. I was a dance teacher for many years in Vermont and later here in Scarborough at the Scarborough Dance Center. My love for dance and fitness brought me to teaching Zumba. I taught at the Dance Center, and local gyms, etc. but it was my clients from the dance studio that encouraged me to one day open my own studio.
After my youngest graduated high school, I decided it was my time to start making a dream a reality. I began to focus more on health and fitness rather than dance. I eventually became a Certified Nutrition Coach as well as a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) to enhance my Group Fitness Certification and Dance Degree.
The Universe had my back, and it was evident in early 2020 when the company I was working for announced it would be closing the office in Maine. At the same time, the previous owner of the fitness studio was looking for a change and approached me about this business. It was then that I decided it was now or never; I wasn’t going to let timing stop me (despite trying to open a business during a pandemic).
I am passionate about inspiring others to live a healthy lifestyle and what better time to do this than during a health crisis. If we can create strong and healthy bodies we can fight most chronic diseases and illnesses. We only have one body - we have to take care of it. We have to move it and fuel it right.
I am so fortunate to be part of my clients’ wellness journeys. Opening this studio is a dream come true. At Perfect Fit Health and Fitness we offer Personal Training, Small Group Fitness Classes, Corporate Fitness Classes and Nutrition Coaching. All sessions are in-person or virtual. We also offer “on-demand” class videos.
Perfect Fit Health and Fitness is the personal approach to fitness. I know every client that walks in the door and I truly want them to reach their goals. I want them to be an inspiration to others to live a healthy lifestyle, that’s what it’s all about.
