For Lynn Duranceau-Tilley, prior VP/Retail Loan Underwriting Manager at Saco & Biddeford Savings, the decision to retire in December 2021 came from a desire to travel and experience things in life she may not have had the opportunity to do before.
“I’m a firm believer that you have to enjoy every day because you don’t know what’s ahead,” she said. “There are things I want to do and places I want to go. I’ve always said that life is short and it’s important to seize the day.”
Before she began working at SBSI, Lynn worked in the mortgage industry in Portland while pregnant with her first child. She said that when the position for Mortgage Processor became available, she jumped on the opportunity.
Although she started off in that position, she soon began working as a Loan Officer. Working in that position, she explained, gave her the opportunity to meet customers face-to-face. Later on in her career, Lynn spent a lot of time working on projects within the Loan Department. She started doing underwriting, and was promoted to Underwriting Manager.
“I loved my job there and never looked anywhere else. The bank was just so good to me,” she said. “They understand that we are all human beings trying to navigate the complexities of our lives outside of the workplace. Their kindness and understanding helped me to balance all areas of my life well, which I am endlessly grateful for.”
One of the most valuable things Lynn gained from working at SBSI has been the friendships she gained along the way. Whether it was a personal or professional matter, she felt that everyone she worked with was genuine and caring toward one another.
“The Loan Department really is like a family. Everyone is concerned for you and has your back. You figure, you spend 8 hours a day, 5 days a week with these folks, so it was wonderful to have that kind of work environment.”
Join us in congratulating Lynn Duranceau-Tilley on her retirement! Thank you for all your hard work and 31 years of dedication to SBSI, we wish you all the best!
