I applied to SBSI because I wanted to advance my career. I heard nothing but positive things so I took a chance, and I’ll be here 2 years in March. I have been in the same position and it’s my goal to become an expert so I can someday become a loan officer. I love working at SBSI; every day is different which makes coming to work fun and exciting.
It all started when I wanted to get back to work full time after six years at home with my kids. I’ve been here for 18 years now. I started as a teller, was promoted to a teller supervisor, moved over to the loan department and am now the business loans project administrator. SBSI is so community and family focused, and because of that I have never missed one of my kids’ games. The support they have for us solidifies that we are more than just co-workers, we’re family!
When looking for an employer closer to home, I found SBSI. The Bank was attractive to me because of its positive presence and involvement in our communities. It’s a place that values people – their customers and employees. The longevity of employment here, really says it all. I’ve worked here for 10 years and the opportunities have continued to present themselves. When I joined, it was to develop a program to manage the Bank’s IRAs. That role evolved into growing the Deposit Support department and just over a year ago, I moved into my current position as Audit Manager. The Bank provides so many opportunities for advancement by supporting its employees, encouraging their growth and promoting education.
I knew I wanted to work at a bank and when I was seeking out opportunities, SBSI was a name I saw often in the community. I took a chance and applied, and I’ve been here for a year and a half. I work in the Human Resources department and I love helping our employees. I love the people and the community involvement; we are like our own community! The Bank supports our communities, and our employees personally and professionally, and I think that speaks volumes to SBSI’s employee retention.
When my father’s garage went out of business, I no longer had a job. I wasn’t sure about banking and thought it would be temporary, but I’ve been here for 20 years now. I started as a teller, was promoted to a Customer Relationship Associate then a Customer Relationship Officer, and now I am the Assistant Branch Manager. The Branch Manager in Saco, Lynne, taught me to own my mistakes from the start and keeping that mindset has no doubt been a key factor to my success. You’re treated like family here and the support and flexibility SBSI provides to be there for your own family is something you likely won’t find anywhere else.
When I started at SBSI it was a turning point in my life. I was looking for a place with a great culture that was close to home. I’ve found that and so much more in the 2.5 years I’ve been here. I started as a teller, was promoted to a Customer Relationship Associate and now I am a Customer Relationship Officer. The support and encouragement I have received along the way has been not only from my co-workers, but upper management as well. I am grateful to have a job in which the environment truly feels like family. This Bank, in my opinion, is not solely a business, it thrives because of the passion the employees have in their commitment to the community and customers. I am proud to work for SBSI!
I was originally hired as a seasonal teller during the summers while I was enrolled at Bentley University. My college experience did not work out as I had hoped at that time, but I was fortunate to be able to stay at SBSI and became a full time teller. I soon found my passion at SBSI working in the Operations Department. I’ve now been here for 23 years full time and I am the Digital Banking manager. The bank goes beyond to make sure employees feel like family. My own family is unique, and the flexibility they afford is infinite. The bank supports its employees so much so that 26 years after enrolling at Bentley, I was able to achieve my dream of finishing my degree with their help – and I graduated with honors!
I had just relocated to Saco with my family, and when I joined SBSI I had assumed it would only be temporary as I was an accountant. I’ve been here for 17 years now, and I never looked for another position. During my time here, I have had the unique opportunity to work in Digital Banking, Customer Care and the Loan Department before joining Payment Operations. My co-workers and our customers are exceptional and that’s why I enjoy working at the Bank. We really get to know each other, have wonderful working relationships and have a level of respect for each other; that’s hard to find.
