Alex Neill, Information Technology Specialist at Saco & Biddeford Savings Bank, recently celebrated his 5-year work anniversary!
“Before joining Saco & Biddeford Savings, my first job after college was at IDEXX. Interestingly enough, the timing aligned perfectly: As I was considering leaving IDEXX, a former classmate from SMCC who worked in IT at SBSI named Leslie reached out and said they were hiring.
Initially, I expressed my concern about not keeping up with my tech skills to Leslie. However, I had an interview and it went really well. Everything just fell into place.
I started as an intermediate level 1 employee, and have since been promoted to Information Technology Specialist. I’ve become the go-to person for any questions from employees about how things work.
Helping people comes naturally to me and its part of who I am. Being able to act as a tech ‘superhero’ so to speak gives me immense satisfaction. Knowing that people trust me to get things done correctly is truly rewarding.
If there's an issue, I'm determined to fix it. If I can’t, I will find someone who can. Over the years, I’ve learned that effective communication is crucial and genuine assistance holds great importance.
In addition to liking what I do, I also really appreciate the community here at SBSI. Most people are laid-back, and I feel like it’s a place where I can truly be myself without judgment.
During my free time, I find joy in listening to music. Heavy music holds a special place in my heart — it's my number one passion. Playing the guitar, recording music, collecting vinyl records, and striving to become the best musician I can be are all vital aspects of my life.”
