Capital Campaign and Benefit Concert Support Hospice of Southern Maine

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution (SBSI) has recently completed a capital campaign, in partnership with Paquin & Carroll Insurance (P&C), for $150,000 supporting Hospice of Southern Maine’s (HSM) Scarborough Campus and care teams.

The new facility functions as a home base for HSM’s home care clinical teams that care for approximately 200 hospice patients every day across 68 towns and islands in southern and western Maine. The nonprofit admits patients at their care facility, at the 18-bed in patient Gosnell Memorial Hospice House and visits patients at their home.

“This new Scarborough Hospice Center will give aging and terminally-ill Mainers additional home-based healthcare options,” said Josh Fearon, President of Paquin & Carroll Insurance. “We believe in the importance of Hospice of Southern Maine’s mission and necessity to expand their extraordinary care to Mainers who seek compassion and comfort through the end of life.”

While SBSI and P&C support has come to a close for this campaign, the Don Campbell Band will host a benefit concert at 2PM on December 18th at Scarborough High School, and all funds raised will be donated to HSM.

“My mom received care from Gosnell and Southern Maine Hospice at a critical point when my siblings and I could no longer provide the comfort and clinical treatment she needed,” said Don Campbell “I personally felt in my heart, perhaps these are the angels at the gates of heaven, right here, right now. They touched our lives in an unforgettable way. I’ve also learned what the power of music can do, to help to connect us all. This holiday season, I welcome everyone to join us for some music, to sing along and feel the joy a community can feel, all while saying ‘Thank you’ to our Hospice caregivers.”
