May 2, 2022 Press Releases
SACO, Maine (MAY 01, 2022) – Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution (SBSI) announced the winners of their financial literacy month piggy bank beauty contest. Areella Kimball of Westbrook and Carter Buotte of Old Orchard Beach each received $100 for their winning submissions.
Kimball submitted a bumblebee bank, crafted from a balloon, papier mâché and popsicle sticks. Her design paid homage to her grandfather who is battling leukemia. His mantra through his fight has been “Be Positive,” and Areella was proud to create something that honored him. She is saving her winnings for a car and college.
Buotte submitted an airplane, designed from a soda bottle, construction and tissue paper. He chose to create an airplane because he is saving for a trip to Disney.
SBSI integrated this contest into their financial literacy month campaign. In addition to the contest, the Bank offered social media giveaways, video recordings and interactive online lessons that focused on financial tips, tricks and education.
