Best Buddies Champion of the Year Gala is a competitive fundraising campaign that unites and recognizes leaders of inclusion in local communities nationwide.

Champion Candidates commit to raising funds and awareness for Best Buddies throughout their campaign. The Champions advocate for the Best Buddies mission and will generate countless opportunities for friendships, jobs, and leadership development. At the Best Buddies Champion of the Year celebration, they honor the Champions’ collective impact and name the ultimate Champion of the Year!

Ready for some holiday shopping? You’ll find unique handmade gifts at the 40th Annual League of Maine Craft Show in Wells, November 4 & 5.  The juried show, held at the Wells Jr. High School on Rte. 1 (1470 Post Road), features Maine and New England artists and craftsmen. Shows are Saturday from 10am to 4pm and Sunday from 10am to 3pm.

The fair is a tradition for visitors and locals alike. The aisles are filled with creativity: Jewelry, pottery, photography, soaps, clothing and accessories, candles, wood crafts, fiber arts, handcrafted specialty foods and much more.

November 11, 2023

Join naturalist Marcia Wilson and photographer Mark Wilson in person for Maine Audubon’s annual live owl show. Each show includes a hooting lesson, an entertaining slideshow and a close-up look at several different owl species.

This year, the program is outdoors under a tent and no walk-in tickets will be offered. Please dress warmly!

People of all ages love this show – get close and personal with live owls!  This program will sell out quickly!  If you are thinking of getting tickets, don’t wait!

Three Shows: 

♦ 10:30-11:15 am – This is a shorter show meant for a younger audience, and will include a story read-a-long and the live owl show.

♦ 12:30-1:45 pm – the regular show for all ages includes a slide presentation called “Owls Up Close” plus the live owl show.

♦ 2:30-3:45 pm – same as the second show

Admission Fees: 
Member Child (Ages 12 and under): $12/ Member Adult: $20
Nonmember Child (Ages 12 and under): $20/ Nonmember Adult: $28

The Wilsons (Dunstable, MA) first brought their owls to Maine Audubon in 1999 and have come to Gilsland Farm annually since 2003. Their owl sanctuary is licensed to house up to 22 owls and they typically bring six to eight owls of different species with them when they come to Maine. Learn more at their website, eyesonowls.com.

With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. This modern-day Christmas classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner ELF.

This year’s 23rd Annual Atlantic Plunge will be at 11 AM Monday, January 1, 2024 (storm date Sunday, January 7) at Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunk.

This year’s Atlantic Plunge comes at a time when support for Caring Unlimited’s services is critical. Survivors in our community are continuing to experience high levels of risk and are facing complicated barriers to increasing their safety and planning for their future. The extent of survivors’ needs has meant that Carling Unlimited is called to do more than ever to help survivors access safety.

Taking part in the Atlantic Plunge will help Caring Unlimited address the significant needs of survivors of domestic violence as we enter the new year.
