Patti Chambers Celebrating 30 Years at P&C Insurance

Patti Chambers, Administrative Assistant at P&C Insurance, is celebrating her 30 year work anniversary this month!

“In 1987, at the age of 16 years old, I worked at Dunkin' Donuts. Bob Shaw, then-President of P&C Insurance, was a regular customer during my six years there.

Bob and his colleagues came in so often that they were considered VIPs, meaning their orders were immediately prepared upon their arrival in the parking lot.

Bob Shaw would walk through the crowded restaurant and find his coffee waiting for him at the counter. This gesture always made him happy and you could tell he appreciated the VIP treatment.

One day, Bob handed me a business card for Paquin & Carroll Insurance. I remember thinking that I didn’t really need insurance. I walked to work so I didn’t have a car, and I rented an apartment, so I didn’t contact Bob at all.

A few weeks later, Bob came in as usual and remarked that I hadn't reached out. I responded honestly, explaining that I didn't require insurance at that moment. With a big smile, Bob clarified that this wasn't why he wanted me to call.

Confused, I asked why he wanted me to get in touch. Bob simply requested that I stop by his office after work, sparking my curiosity.

To my surprise, Bob offered me a job. He saw something special in me and wanted me to join his team. The offer included a dollar raise from my salary, which as a mother, I couldn't turn down. That was in 1993, 30 years ago now. I am forever grateful that Bob took a chance on me. He holds a special place in my heart.

I started as a file clerk for 4 or 5 years before transitioning to the front as the receptionist, a role I've held for the past 25 years. I genuinely enjoy working with our clients, treating them like VIPs because they are the reason we exist.

Customer service is truly my heart and soul. The little things that matter most to our clients also matter to me. I not only provide excellent customer service but also act as a friend. I believe everyone deserves to be treated with the utmost respect.

I've built wonderful relationships with our clients, getting to know their grandkids and being there for them during both good and bad days. When they experience a loss, I share in their grief.

Outside of work, I indulge in selling Scentsy products to keep homes smelling delightful. I also love spending time with my granddaughter, Karmen, who is now 11 years old and growing up too quickly.

During the summer months, I love to go boating. I enjoy moments with my husband and family, relishing in their laughter on warm summer days.

My family means everything to me, and working at Paquin & Carroll feels like being part of a large extended family as well. While many people have come and gone, I've formed lasting bonds even with those who have moved on.

Retirement is still a few years away, and until then, I eagerly anticipate creating more precious memories with the remarkable individuals surrounding me. I will forever be thankful to Bob Shaw for taking a chance on me back in 1993.”
