Domestic violence can affect anyone. Whether it be physical, mental, emotional or financial abuse, these acts of violence can cross generations and can have a lasting impact.
For Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which takes place in October, organizations such as Caring Unlimited hope to bring more attention to the issue and provide resources to those who may be seeking help.
The organization provides individualized services to those experiencing abuse by helping each person come up with a customized plan for moving forward and increasing their safety.
For those who would like to become more involved, Caring Unlimited provides various volunteer opportunities including helpline advocacy and event involvement. They also offer a series of free webinars each year that aim to increase understanding and highlight ways people can be of help.
Besides assisting those in need, Caring Unlimited hopes to shift the culture around domestic abuse and violence. Learning about persistent myths within our own communities, they believe, will help to break down those perspectives and foster a community of inclusivity and understanding.
