Local Finds Therapeutic Value in Tending to Gardens

“Gardening, for many of us, is pure therapy. In a world where technology often rules our lives, it's easy to lose touch with real human connections and the satisfaction of tangible accomplishments. But with gardening, each day brings a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

As I tend to my plants and watch them flourish, I feel a real sense of rejuvenation and renewal.

When I get home, I like to disconnect from the world and recharge my soul by digging in the dirt. I leave my phone behind and let the therapeutic power of gardening work its magic.

Even on days I’m feeling down, stressed, or overwhelmed, I always know that tending to my plants will help alleviate those feelings. It's kind of like I am the artist and my yard is the canvas. And that’s a beautiful feeling.

Outside of gardening at home, I’m also Presidentof the Saco Bay Gardening Club. We warmly welcome all nature lovers to join us in our meetings held every first Thursday of the month, where you'll find a wealth of gardening information.

Everyone from Saco, Biddeford, OOB, Lyman and beyond are welcome, regardless of experience. Our community is filled with friendly folks who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and have fun.

In the summer, we rotate between various members' gardens, providing each an opportunity to showcase their unique personality. It's a wonderful way to connect with different plant varieties, soak in the sunshine, and be inspired by the artistry of fellow gardeners.”
