On March 19, 2026, the Saco & Biddeford Savings team had the privilege of attending the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women Luncheon at the Holiday Inn By The Bay.
As a proud sponsor, we joined hundreds of community members to celebrate two decades of progress in women’s heart health.
Why a Bank Cares About Your Heart
At SBSI, we often say our mission goes beyond the vault. We don’t just care about your financial well-being; we care about your total well-being.
A holistic approach to health is the foundation of a life well-lived, and heart health is a massive piece of that puzzle. Heart disease remains a leading threat to women, yet many don't realize that the signs of a heart attack can look very different for women than for men.
While we often think of chest pain, women may experience shortness of breath, nausea, or back and jaw pain. Awareness is the first step toward prevention. By supporting the American Heart Association, we are helping to fund equitable research that addresses these differences at every stage of a woman’s life.
Stories That Hit Home
The highlight of the afternoon was hearing the inspiring stories of local survivors and volunteers. For our own Courtney Taylor, the event’s mission is deeply personal: "My Nana has lived with lifelong struggles after being born with a hole in her heart.
From a heart valve replacement to her ongoing battle with A-Fib, her journey is a constant reminder of why we need equitable research and care. Seeing the community come together like this gives me so much hope for families like mine."
Our Continued Commitment
Showing up for charities and organizations like the AHA isn’t just a corporate responsibility—it’s who we are. We want to ensure that the women in our community are supported through every age, stage, and season of their lives.
Thank you to the American Heart Association for an impactful afternoon. We left feeling inspired to keep working hard for the health—financial and otherwise—of the communities we serve.
