Employees made solid commitments to the community with dedicated service to over 65 organizations.
SACO, Maine (Dec. 31, 2025) – Saco & Biddeford Savings (SBSI) team members volunteered more than 2,350 hours throughout the community in 2025, surpassing last year’s record of 2,079 hours and continuing the Bank’s long-standing tradition of community engagement.
In total, 92 employees completed 729 volunteer activities and supported 68 organizations across York and Cumberland counties through a wide range of activities, including fundraising walks, community events, Habitat for Humanity home builds, food drives and other hands-on service projects. Some team members focused on causes they are especially passionate about, such as financial education or youth sports coaching, while others enjoyed the camaraderie and team building that comes from volunteering together.
One of the year’s highlights was a large-scale project led by the Compassion Through Action committee. Eighteen volunteers assembled more than 460 mini apple, pumpkin and blueberry pies for the Knights of Columbus #12941 free Thanksgiving meal, helping ensure a memorable holiday for local families.
“Giving back is at the heart of who we are at Saco & Biddeford Savings,” said Meg Palmer, Community Engagement Officer. “Our mission is to serve with compassion while striving for excellence, and our team members bring that mission to life every day through their dedication to our communities.”
One employee, Karyn Labrie, AVP, Compliance Specialist, stands out for her dedication and commitment this year. Labrie volunteered hundreds of hours with Biddeford High School Performing Arts as the treasurer of the Biddeford Marching Arts Boosters.
“Karyn has been an instrumental volunteer, ensuring the financial stability of our program,” says Michael Murphy, Director of Bands at Biddeford High School. “By managing budgets, tracking fundraising and engaging with our families and school office staff, we have been able to continuously grow our program.”
SBSI’s volunteer efforts reflect the Bank’s deeply rooted culture of service. Team members receive eight hours of paid Volunteer Time Off each year, and the Bank’s Dollars for Doers program provides charitable donations to organizations based on employees’ volunteer hours.
“I’m incredibly proud of our team members and their commitment to giving back,” said Mark Jones, President and CEO of SBSI. “Community service strengthens our neighbors, our customers and our employees. It’s one of the most important things we do as a community bank.”
