A Simple Switch With Meaningful Results
This April, Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution invited customers to enroll in eStatements as a simple way to go paperless while supporting global reforestation efforts. Thanks to our customers, that initiative turned into a measurable impact we are proud to share.
During the month of April, all of you helped us to 250 trees through Team Trees.
Each enrollment helped move this initiative forward and showed how everyday banking choices can lead to something much bigger.
What Is Team Trees?
Team Trees is a global environmental initiative created to help address deforestation by funding tree planting efforts around the world. The initiative works in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, one of the most trusted and established tree‑planting organizations, to ensure trees are planted responsibly and in areas where they are most needed.
Since its launch, Team Trees has helped plant more than 24 million trees worldwide, restoring forests, supporting wildlife habitats, and improving air and water quality across numerous regions. By partnering with Team Trees, this initiative connected our local community to a proven global effort making real, long‑term impact.
How This Initiative Helped the World
Planting trees plays an important role in supporting a healthier environment. Trees help improve air quality, absorb carbon dioxide, reduce erosion, and create habitats for wildlife. Reforestation efforts also help strengthen communities affected by environmental disruption.
Every tree planted through this initiative represents a step toward a healthier planet. While no single action solves everything, the collective participation throughout April demonstrated how small, intentional choices can add up to meaningful environmental change.
