Reaching a 25 year milestone is no small feat, and for Tony LeBlanc, it represents a career defined by growth, resilience, and deep connection to the people around him.
Tony joined Saco & Biddeford Savings in April of 2001 after being recruited while he was managing the Scarborough branch of a regional bank. He was invited to consider a role as a Commercial and Residential Loan Officer at SBSI’s Scarborough branch, and the opportunity immediately resonated with him.
Having already known many people at the Bank, Tony was drawn to SBSI’s strong sense of community and values, making the move a natural fit.
Tony began his journey as a Commercial and Residential Loan Officer, a role he held for seven years. In 2008, he stepped into a new chapter when he was promoted to serve as the Bank Secrecy Act/Community Reinvestment Act Officer. This move marked the beginning of a long and impactful tenure in compliance, where Tony’s attention to detail, commitment to excellence, and steady leadership made a lasting impression.
When SBSI’s longtime Compliance Manager retired, Tony stepped into the role, continuing his progression into leadership. He carried the position forward with care and dedication, helping guide the Bank through regulatory changes while maintaining its strong community focus.
After many years in compliance, Tony returned to his roots in lending in 2022, becoming a Residential Mortgage Lender and bringing his broad institutional knowledge full circle. In 2026, Tony began a new chapter as a Business Credit Analyst, continuing to support the Bank through his deep understanding of credit, risk, and relationship based banking.
While Tony’s career path reflects impressive professional growth, it’s the personal connections that have made SBSI truly special to him.
That sense of family has been especially meaningful during some of Tony’s most challenging moments. Over the years, SBSI and its employees stood firmly by his side during two battles with cancer in 2005 and 2006, and again more recently during an extended medical leave last year when Tony underwent surgery to have his larynx removed due to long term effects from the radiation treatments he received 20 years ago.
“I have been truly blessed to work at SBSI for the past 25 years,” Tony shares. “The friends that I have made here have become like a second family.”
Outside of work, Tony enjoys making the most of his free time with the people he loves. An avid golfer and enthusiastic reader, he spends many hours on the golf course with his wife Mary, daughters Katie and Abby, and their partners — though he jokes that Mary and Katie might prefer driving the golf cart over perfecting their swings. Tony and Mary also share a love of travel, having visited Sweden, Cyprus, and Ireland in recent years, along with annual trips to Florida to spend time with close friends.
After 25 years, Tony’s story is one of dedication, adaptability, and heart. His career reflects not only his professional talents, but also the culture of care and support that defines SBSI. We’re thankful for his commitment, resilience, and for all he has contributed — and continues to contribute — to SBSI and the communities we serve.
