Westbrook Branch Celebrates 15-Year Anniversary

We are thrilled to mark the 15-year anniversary of our Westbrook branch this month!

Not only is this milestone an important measure of time, but it is also a testament to the incredible relationships we've built with our customers and the community at large.

In January 2009, Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution (SBSI) opened their doors to the public. At approximately 3,800 square feet, the location boasts 20 parking spaces for patrons and employees, as well as drive thru service.

Access to the building comes from Hannaford Drive, which also functions as a driveway to Hannaford Supermarket off of William Clarke Drive.

According to the City of Westbrook Department of Planning Meeting Minutes, the Westbrook City Council approved the Hannaford Brothers Contract Zone in 2001, permitting the construction of their supermarket on a larger portion of the site, the construction of a general business on the outer parcel along William Clarke Drive, and the redevelopment of Bicentennial Park.

On December 4, 2007 the Planning Board considered a sketch plan application for location from SBSI. On February 5, 2008, the Planning Board made final adjustments and approvals to the site plan review after months of hard work and planning.

Construction of the new branch began on June 4, 2008, marked by a groundbreaking ceremony hosted by SBSI. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on January 13, 2009, and the branch officially opened their doors on January 20 of that year.

For an additional four days following their opening, SBSI continued their celebratory efforts hosting family fun days, offering up prizes that included three $1,000 heating oil payments and five $200 Hannaford gift cards.

The original leadership team included Branch Manager Julie Villemaire and Assistant Branch Manager Allison Graham (formerly known as Allison Steele).

Additional staff included Patrick Beggs, Sabrina Pitts, Diandra Baker, Stephanie Bailey, Elizabeth Doyle, Michael Jean, and Andrea Todd of Paquin & Carroll Insurance.

We are deeply grateful for the team at our Westbrook branch, whose dedication and service have been instrumental in making our bank what it is today.

Their hard work and commitment reflect our core values as an institution that not only serves the financial needs of our customers but also stands as a pillar of support within the neighborhood.

We are proud to be part of the Westbrook community, and look forward to many more years to come of shared success and community partnership. Thank you, Westbrook, for trusting us to be a part of your story.
