Westbrook Teller Pam Plasse Retiring from SBSI

At the end of this month, Pam Plasse is retiring from SBSI after 5 and a half years of dedication and service.

Pam began her banking career right out of college, and left the working force for many years to be a stay-at-home mom. After returning to work in retail, she realized she was having trouble with the physical work that retail required. So she thought, why not try banking again?

She started working at Saco & Biddeford Savings Westbrook branch, and has been there ever since. Currently, she is working part-time as she nears retirement.

“I really enjoy working at SBSI. I love the people I work with and our customers. No two days are ever the same!”

Pam said that she is most grateful for an opportunity she had to become a Certified Teller in 2019. Stephanie Bailey, Westbrook’s Branch Operations Manager, had recommended Pam for the program. It took a lot of hard work, but Pam said it was all worth it.

“It involved taking several classes and workshops over more than a year and having to pass a huge test. It is an accomplishment I am quite proud of.”

While some people wait begrudgingly in winter for the snow to melt and the temperatures to turn up, Pam said she can’t get enough of the colder season. She enjoys skiing with her two daughters, son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter and grandson.

Her love for winter, she said, first began at 6 years old when her father taught her to ski.

“Growing up, we went camping, played tennis and skied as a family, so my home and school life was awesome. I adored my dad because he taught me so much. Unfortunately, he passed away suddenly in 1986, but still to this day, I thank him every time I hit the slopes.”

In her free time, Pam also enjoys cooking. She developed this cooking passion through her mother. She would observe her mother's cooking sessions frequently, and it was these observations that led her to discover her deep love for it.

In retirement, Pam is looking forward to hiking, walking, biking and cooking. She also looks forward to spending time working with her husband Joe at their home in Lyman. They have a big garden which keeps them very busy, and in the spring, summer and fall, Pam said they also raise honey bees.
