You were born to be real, not perfect.” - Ralph Marsten
I love this. While none of us are flawless, we can always strive to be genuinely positive in the lives of others. I’m far from perfect but I’m really good at being real. I can be a real idiot, really selfish and at times rather snarky — qualities I’m not particularly proud of.
Every day, we have the power to either uplift or detract from the lives of those around us. It’s the reality that we all oscillate between being a positive or negative influence.
However, our aim should be to contribute positively far more often than not, understanding that perfection is an unattainable standard, and mistakes are inevitable.
I genuinely value the core principles upheld here at SBSI. They advocate for generosity in our thoughts and actions, urging us to remain curious, especially when faced with negativity. Often someone’s negativity is not a reflection of us but their own struggles. Our values encourage excellence, not flawlessness, reminding us that sometimes, simply giving our best effort, even on a less-than-ideal day, is commendable.
Let’s stay grounded in reality, recognizing that we all have moments of both positivity and negativity. Our goal should be to amplify the positive while being compassionate towards ourselves and others when negativity arises.
Personally, I’m grateful for those occasional chances to start afresh. I believe this mindset moves us closer to excellence in our interactions and relationships.
