Jonesy's Journey: Pleasant Reminders

Some things I’m still learning … and relearning. I wish I didn’t have to revisit the same lessons so often, but it seems Samuel Johnson was right.

Saturday morning was one of those reminders. As I headed to the beach, I caught myself getting frustrated for not throwing my kayak on the car the night before, for not making more of an adventure out of it.
 
But once I arrived, my mood changed.
 
The fresh morning air, the sound of the gulls, the ripples in the sand from the outgoing tide, and the slow, unfolding of color across the sky ... it was all that I needed. A quiet reminder to let things be what they are, and to simply be present in the moment.
